Silicon steel coils and sheets available on the market are primarily categorized into two types: non-oriented and grain-oriented. Specifications are defined mainly by thickness, width, and grade to meet the production requirements of various electromechanical and transformer equipment. Non-oriented silicon steel is a core material for electric motors and generators; mainstream thicknesses include 0.20mm, 0.25mm, 0.35mm, and 0.50mm, with the 0.35mm and 0.50mm specifications being the most widely circulated. Widths can be customized between 1000mm and 1170mm based on processing needs, and edges are supplied with a standard trimmed finish. Grades are predominantly from the TW and XW series; different grades offer varying iron loss and magnetic performance parameters, catering to the mass production needs of small-to-medium motors and home appliance motors. Grain-oriented silicon steel is primarily used in power equipment such as transformers and instrument transformers. Thicknesses typically range from 0.27mm to 0.35mm, featuring strict tolerance controls, minimal surface flatness deviation, high magnetic permeability, and lower iron loss, thereby meeting production standards for high-voltage, high-efficiency equipment.
Finished silicon steel products are usually supplied in coil form with a standard inner core diameter of 508mm; coil weights can be adjusted to suit the customer's processing equipment. The coils feature uniform surfaces free from warping or oxidation defects and can be subsequently slit or cut-to-length into custom-sized sheets. In addition to standard fixed sizes, silicon steel sheets can be cut to non-standard dimensions based on production requirements; common sheet sizes for hot-rolled silicon steel include standards such as 750×1500mm and 1000×2000mm. Industry grade naming conventions are clear, typically combining thickness values with loss parameters-for example, "35TW300" denotes 0.35mm thick, low-loss non-oriented silicon steel, while "50TW470" indicates 0.50mm general-purpose motor-grade silicon steel. These grade designations allow for the rapid assessment of material properties during procurement and processing, ensuring precise matching with equipment operating conditions and guaranteeing the operational efficiency and stability of electromagnetic equipment.
